b&lu began in 2000 in Christine’s basement with only a handful of styles. Supportive phone calls and emails came pouring in from women with strong opinions on what we were doing. Less than thrilled with the selection at the mall chain stores or the dowdy department store offerings, the women praised our look as something new and fresh. They also cheered on our 1x-5x size range, as many stores only carry 1x-3x. And so our concept was born: unique, boutique styles in extended sizes.

The world is filled with hip neighborhoods lined with trendy boutiques that most of us don’t frequent. Not because the prices are too high (though they may be), but because it’s not even an option. How frustrating to know that this store has super cute clothes or that store has the dress you’ve been coveting, but to also know you can’t wear it. They only carry S/M/L, or possibly have some things in size 10 or 12. That’s great for women who wear that size, but what about the majority of us who don’t? We want to be your boutique option! We also want you to be able to fill your closet, rather than spend all your money on one expensive item. With b&lu, you won’t look like everyone else an you won’t go broke keeping on trend.

Over the years we have grown, eventually taking over Christine’s dining room and garage before finding our current location in the quaint capitol city of Saint Paul, Minnesota. Everyday we strive to increase our selection and give our customers more of what they can’t find anywhere else. We are grateful for the ongoing support we receive from our loyal customers (many of which check our site daily) and we’re always happy to see first-time customers stumbling onto our site. Women from all over the world, of all ages have told us it’s more than the “shirt on your back.” Great clothes allow you to hold your head a little higher, accentuate your assets and be proud of whom you see in the mirror. Who knew the power of fashion?!
